Throughout March, everyone at CountyClean has been showing their support for Ukraine after Russia launched a devastating attack on 24th February 2022.
Across our social media channels, we have changed our logo to represent the Ukrainian flag colours and also have included the Ukraine flag colours in each picture we post. This is to demonstrate that we stand with the Ukrainian people and their leaders and strongly condemn the unjustified invasion of their country.
Even before the recent invasion, Ukraine has faced 8 years of conflict and with recent events unfolding and the war escalating, we wanted to help the people caught up in this crisis so we decided to do some in-house fundraising for The British Red Cross’s DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal to protect people in Ukraine.
On the 4th of March, we decided to wear blue and yellow, and on the 18th of March, we held a bake sale and wore the Ukrainian flag colours again to show that we #StandWithUkraine. We’d like to give a special thank you to the team at Chilley Farm Shop for kindly donating us some cakes and other goodies for our in-office bake sale!
How is the British Red Cross supporting people in Ukraine?
If you would like to help our appeal, we have set up a fundraising page to support people in urgent need in Ukraine and the border countries. People are losing their homes and lives; families are being separated. Essential services, like water and healthcare are under threat.
The people caught up in this conflict must be supported and protected. Even before recent developments, this eight-year conflict has hit people daily on all levels. It’s brought suffering, death, injury and separation from loved ones, as well as the huge mental toll of ongoing violence and insecurity.
Your donation will go towards:
- Providing food, first aid, clean water, shelter support, warm clothing, hygiene parcels and medicines
- Supporting hospitals and healthcare facilities
- Supporting firefighters and civil protection units
- Training people up in life-saving first aid
- Helping families stay in contact with each other
- Educating people on the risks of explosives
- Repairing vital infrastructure
- Helping to repair homes, healthcare centres, schools and community centres
Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine and the Ukrainian communities affected around the world. If you’d like to help us raise as much money as possible, please use the link here or visit The British Red Cross DEC Ukraine Appeal direct here.
